Extend The Life Of Your E-Cigarette

We all know that as you use your e-cigarette, the battery and atomizer will wear out. You can tell your battery is beginning to wear out when it won’t charge or if it starts to go dead faster than it used to. With a weakening atomizer, the amount of vapor produced and its quality will decrease over time. So let’s look at ways in which you can extend the life of these two components.

Beginning the day you receive your e-cigarette, you can do things that will prolong the life of your battery and atomizer. This will not only save you money over time but will also allow you to experience that new e-cig taste and feel virtually forever.

Batteries

Your e-cigarette comes with a lithium-ion battery. The most important thing you can do to increase the lifespan of your battery is to charge it completely before the first use. This means that you should charge it (usually overnight) exactly as directed in your owners manual. You should not attach the battery when you first receive your kit and start using it. You should also not charge your battery for short period of time on the first charge. I know how hard it is to wait for your battery to charge overnight when you receive your first e-cigarette, but believe me it is well worth the wait. Using your battery without a full and complete charge will greatly reduce the lifespan of your battery. Conversely, a proper first charge will tremendously increase the life of your battery. Just remember, don’t store your battery on the charger. Once it is fully charged, remove it from the charger.

There are other things you can do that will increase the lifespan of your battery for example:

-If you plan on not using a battery for an extended period of time, you should try to leave it with around a 50% charge. Do not fully charge it and do not fully drain it. Also, store it in a cool dry environment.

-Try not to fully discharge the battery too often. It is better for a battery to receive a short charge as opposed to a long charge. There are many reasons for this but the most important is that the longer a battery charges, the more heat it generates. Heat is probably the worst thing for a battery. So if you can, use two or more batteries and don’t let any of them completely discharge. In the long run, it is much less expensive to repeatedly give three batteries a short charge than to give one battery a long charge on a regular basis. As a side note, the Joyetech batteries that we sell have a microprocessor controlled safety switch that will shut the battery down if the charge gets too low.

-Keep your battery clean and dry. Do not over fill your cartridge. Even though the battery is sealed, continued exposure to e-liquid can greatly decrease the battery life.

-All lithium-ion batteries have a finite number of charge cycles. This means that with each charge, your battery loses a tiny bit of its ability to hold and maintain a charge. Most lithium-ion batteries can be recharged 300 to 500 times before needing to be replaced.

Atomizers

Just like batteries, you can extend the life of your atomizer by following a few simple steps. Atomizers are the heating element that vaporize your e-liquid. The average life expectancy of an atomizer is between two and three months depending on how it is being used. To make it last longer, start by keeping it moist at all times. There’s nothing worse for an atomizer than being heated to vaporizing levels when it is dry.

To ensure peak performance of your atomizer, it is best to keep it clean. There are many ways you can do this but basically you are trying to remove the old, gummy residue produced during normal vaping. You can place the atomizer in a small bottle of PG and shake it around. It won’t take long before all of the old gunk and varnish is washed from the atomizer.

Don’t forget to prime your atomizer before use with fresh e-liquid. Simply place one or two drops directly onto the heating element to ensure it is not run dry.
